I'm Still A Believer

"We're the young generation and we got something to say!"

40 years ago last week (September 12 to be exact), The Monkees made their television debut and changed the world. I loved The Monkees. I was eight years old when it came on. The show lasted two seasons, 58 episodes in all. And like some of my other favorite TV shows at the time, Batman, Dark Shadows, The Outer Limits, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Green Hornet, The Adams Family and The Monkees was a pop culture phenomenon. Indie-rockers, hip-hoppers and punkrockers all agree: The Monkees were the bee's knees.

I Wanna Be Free - Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart
Boyce & Hart wrote many of The Monkees' biggest hits including "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone," "Last Train To Clarksville," and the Theme from The Monkees. "I Wanna Be Free" was recorded by The Monkees and sung by Davy on their debut.
