SXSW Day Two and 1/2

How great is the music at SXSW that I have seen so far?

Thursday night again was a good one...started the night with Joan As Policewoman at the Ale House with a stark, beautiful and haunting performance. Listen to some tunes here

Canadian night at Maggie May's was pretty hot with Malajube
Montreal 40 Degree C

Last night's highlight was Brighton's Fujiya & Miyagi at the Karma Lounge. They're equal parts Can, Kraftwerk amd Stereolab and the grooves were hot.

Then over to La Zona Rosa for the two piece electronic rock of Austin's biggest local band Ghostland Observatory who are like some strange bastard child of Queen and Afrika Bambaataa and completely lifted the La Zona audience off the ground.

Even more SXSW hotness:
Closer At Hand - Field Music
Discotech - Young Love
Eyes Are At The Billions - Cortney Tidwell

And we had a great time at the Paste Magazine/World Cafe day party today at Maggie May's and I did manage to slip away for The Fratellis with special guest Pete Townshend. Hey. It's SXSW! More updates tomorrow rock fans.
