The Medeski, Martin & Wood Crossover Series

This week is Medeski, Martin & Wood week over at The Late Greats The Duke has already posted some great stuff from The Wood Brothers, John Medeski with Sex Mob and a review of Martin & Medeski's Mago.
When The Duke told me about this idea I suggested a couple of other MM&W related projects for the series. MM&W are serious music cats who command respect in the worlds of jazz, hip-hop, funk, and the jamband nation. They formed in the early 90's. Billy Martin plays drums and percussion, Chris Wood plays bass, and John Medeski plays keyboards. On their own as a trio, they've put out some monster records including: End Of The World Party (Just In Case) and Combustication.
Here's a couple of jams to get your groove on as MMW week continues:
There's no doubt about jazz guitarist John Scofield's importance and influence as one of modern day's great jazz guitarists. When he teamed up with MMW to record A Go Go they made a great jazz-jam-funk record that elevated both Scofield's and MMW's awareness to each other's musical camps.
A Go Go - John Scofield w/ Medeski, Martin & Wood
The Word were a blues-jam-rock-gospel supergroup that included John Medeski, The North Mississippi Allstars, and pedal steel phenom Robert Randolph. They made one now classic self-titled album together which was released on the always awesome Ropeadope Records.
