Mono In VCF
Mono In VCF are a Tacoma based five piece fronted by Kim Miller. Miller's sultry vocals anchor the easy brilliance of the band's cinematic pop on their self-titled debut album due in February and available now digitally. Influenced by Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound, and the organic mooged out sounds of the 60's and 70's, MIVCF is Massive Attack meets Dusty In Memphis with touches of John Barry and The Walker Brothers. Moody and melodic, trip-hop without the hop that also borrows on old soul, Portishead and 3D and Daddy G better watch they asses, cause Mono In VCF is about to blow them all out of the water with this incredibly compelling release. While the band cites musicians like Jarvis Cocker, Hugo Montenegro, David Axelrod, Pink Floyd, Jack Nitsche, Bowie, Gene Clark, the Bee Gees and the Delfonics (yeah Philly!) as some of their influences, they list Terry Jacks as their guru. The former AM-radio rocker actually sings on two songs on the album (one of which is a cover of a song originally done by The Poppy Family that Jacks was in with his then wife before he went solo and they split up back in the 70's.) So, dig the new, and the old. And definitely get yourself a copy of the album.
