Meet Benji Hughes

A couple months ago I got my first taste of Benji Hughes and the first thought I had was that I wanted some of what this cat was smoking. Signed to New West Records by the legendary Peter Jesperson (see The Replacements), Hughes is from North Carolina and will be releasing his debut 25-song disc called A Love Extreme on July 22nd. In anticipation of that release there's a new six song EP called A Little Extreme (cute, heh?) that samples some of the tasty gems to come from the full release. Like the eels, Beck, and Todd Rundgren, Hughes is an adventurous pop experimentalist and if these songs are any indication, the full album is gonna be a full blown psychedelic colorful whammer jammer.
