Daptone Gets Down To Charles Bradley
While the record industry continues it's downward sprial, it's my opinion that the "music" part of the music industry/business overall couldn't be more vibrant. When you think about it, the result of the long tail economy and the internetization/new media-ing of the world has resulted in more people creating music than ever before and people sharing and discovering music in many new ways. And speaking of discovery let me get this off my chest: Radio is still cool, despite the fact that audiences are shifting to different platforms for discovery and use. That said, one of the reasons why music is so vibrant is Daptone Records who throw down the soulfunkR&B hammer like nobody's business. And they have fun doing it. Daptone has just released Daptone Singles Collection Vol. 2 and it smokes. I think the next time those geniuses at Sony/BMG or Terra Firma get together to do some of that strategic planning, they should put this record on. It may help.
Here's a track from the Daptone 7 inch Singles Collection Vol. 2
