I Hope The Kind Of Change I Want Is Gonna Come

Photo by Nina Berman Art For Obama

Someone asked me a few weeks ago why I was voting for Obama. Simply, I put it like this: He envisions the kind of future that I want for my kids. There's been lots of talk about change by both candidates and lets face it: regardless who you may vote for, either candidates chances of getting to any significant change in the first couple years is going to be challenging. The immediate consequences of change under Obama will be social, cultural and historical - which will hold real weight. But it's getting past that where he will make the most difference for future generations. And that's where my 10 and 11 year old come in. They ask me questions like: Why can't I vote online? Why don't government officials all drive hybrid cars? Why does the United States always have to fight to solve problems? All good questions. You see, I believe that Obama's answers to these questions are potentially quite different than McCain's. And in addition to the fact the Obama's vision is one that I fundamentally believe in, it's in the best best best interest for my kids that Obama is elected; my kids are the leaders and changers of the future that matter most. Me? well I'm almost irrelevant here.
